FORECLOSURES

The holidays are over and now it’s time to get down to the business of enjoying the winter months in our beautiful Coachella Valley.  With cooler evenings and sunny days come a full roster of events, places to go, and new people to meet.  The “Season” is upon us!

Few things say “Palm Springs” more than the world-famous Palm Springs International Film Festival.  In its 23rd year, the event will run from January 5th – 15th and play host to an amazing array of movies and celebs. The Festival will feature a stellar line-up of more than 200 films from over 60 countries, plus special events and gala receptions.  The Black Tie Awards Gala on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, brings out the best of the best, with this year’s honorees including Glenn Close, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Michelle Williams.  Plan ahead.  Tickets for the gala and many screenings sell out quickly!

Are you a dance fan?  Then don’t miss the premiere Palm Springs Dance For Life event, a celebratory evening of dance in support of the AIDS Assistance Program, taking place on Friday, January 27th at the Palm Springs Art Museum’s Annenberg Theatre.  A pre-performance cocktail hour will usher in a night of spectacular dance by members of six different troupes with a grand finale by noted choreographer Randy Duncan.  760-325-8481

Enjoy a pleasant winter’s night in the desert with a stroll down El Paseo, the Valley’s legendary shopping and entertainment boulevard in Palm Desert that boasts great shopping, public art, and restaurants.  The monthly El Paseo Art Walk will take place on January 5th from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, when galleries open to the public and offer a view of their wonderful art offerings.

And for more art (this time during the day in Palm Springs), visit the Desert Arts Festival, which takes place in Frances Stevens Park at the corner of North Palm Canyon Drive and Alejo Road.  Six times a year fine artists display their work.  In their 26th year, the winter festival will take place on January 21st and 22nd, when art lovers will see a wonderful selection of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and more.  Sales benefit local non-profit organizations.

Looking for an interesting outing just a stone’s throw from Palm Springs?  Take a drive over to Desert Hot Springs and visit Cabot’s Pueblo Museum.  Constructed over decades by Cabot Yerxa, starting in the early teens to the mid-1960s, this 5000-square-foot, 35-room, four-story Hopi-inspired museum/home was built using nothing but reclaimed wood and objects from local abandoned homesteads, buck board wagons, telephone poles, and other miscellaneous materials.  You’ll be hard pressed to find a more fascinating place to visit!

We hope you enjoy the desert winter in the Coachella Valley as much as we do!  All the best for a great 2012 from the Zapala/Meyer Team.
